| Artist Notes: | Some of my favourite creative ideas begin with colour rather than a subject. While wandering through Paris, I found myself drawn to the soft pastel displays in boutique pātisseries, where rows of beautifully crafted cakes looked almost like an artist's paint palette. The delicate shades, elegant presentation, and playful decorations inspired pages of sketches that eventually evolved into this illustration. Using loose watercolours and expressive hand-drawn details, I wanted to capture the feeling of joyful creativity and French flair, creating a charming keepsake for a granddaughter celebrating her 28th birthday. |
