This 32nd birthday card for a granddaughter celebrates the everyday pleasures that first inspired me while travelling through France. From stopping to admire the colourful creations in neighbourhood pâtisseries to sharing coffee and beautifully crafted cakes in sunlit cafés, I found endless inspiration in the French appreciation for life's simple joys. Those experiences became a series of loose sketches and watercolour studies, capturing the warmth, colour, and happiness that surrounded each moment. This illustration brings together that sense of effortless French charm, with playful hand-drawn details and painterly textures that I hope convey the delight of slowing down, savouring sweet treats, and celebrating a very special birthday.
