FYI: These animals have served as messengers throughout the world, dating back to the 6th Century BC. Cyrus, the King of Persia, used them to communicate with the far ends of his vast empire. Julius Ceasar of Greece often used them, and they were also released with requests for aid during the Franco-Prussian War. The United States continued using them as recently as World War II, and some have even received honorary medals for their valor and service.
