This kindly Santa image is an antique originaI diecut scrap c1890. In19th century Europe, Santa Clause was known as Father Christmas. His long white beard was universal but his costume was distinctly European. A hooded robe trimmed in fur or holly fashioned this evening visitor in old world style.
