| Artist Notes: | National Escargot Day on May 24 celebrates the famous French dish of cooked land snails in garlic, butter and wine. For this design we have a fun illustration of a dish on which sits a head of garlic, a knob of butter and some parsley sprigs. Sitting uncomfortably in the middle of all these ingredients is a snail. 'Ooh la la' is a French expression which can be translated as 'oh dear'. The inside verse 'Bon appetit' means 'enjoy your meal'. |
